Renowned for competitive pricing and exceptional service, Cool Blades is a trusted supplier to leading salon groups nationwide.They stock top industry brands such as Wahl, Andis, Jaguar, and Joewell, ensuring customers have access to trusted tools.

Cool Blades needed a new online platform to sell their products more effectively to their UK-wide customers which ranged from hair stylist to salon owner, beauty therapist to nail technicians.

Furthermore, it was imperative for Cool Blades that data from their previous X-Cart store such as past orders, customer, products, etc. would be immediately available on their new BigCommerce platform. They also wanted to alert their customers to delivery timescales, essential to know when ordering urgently needed products. Cool Blades also needed to alter certain deliveries based on dangerous products such as lithium batteries, peroxide, acetone, aerosols, etc. Integration into Cool Blades Klaviyo was another key requirement. Most crucial of all, however, was just making it super easy for the customer to buy on the site.

Finally, to successfully grow the site, Cool Blades needed an agency who could successfully deliver focused digital marketing such as SEO and PPC.

The Approach

Cool Blades needed a new online platform to sell their products more effectively to their UK-wide customers who ranged from hair stylists to salon owners, beauty therapists to nail technicians. After evaluating several alternative contenders, Cool Blades selected BigCommerce as their ecommerce platform of choice.

Given the nature of these requirements, Cool Blades needed a B2B expert with a track record of delivery. As a result Cool Blades selected Agency51 as their development partner. Agency51 was extremely well-placed to meet the brief through its deep knowledge of the BigCommerce platform, its expertise and its experience. The data migration project was seamless enabling the new ecommerce site to hit the ground running. A countdown clock informs customers how long they have left to order and a smart delivery system establishes which products can go free by Royal Mail or which need to be couriered because of the nature of the products. There was neat integration into Klaviyo, so the communications were all joined up and data driven.

The site was built with ease-of-use top of mind. It also included a complete redesign by Agency51  offering a contemporary, fresh look and feel to go along with the intuitive navigation and user experience. Easy ordering made multiple product purchasing a breeze. And with Klarna Pay in Three, customer costs could be spread out, too.

Agency51’s digital marketing approach centred on SEO, specifically technical and onsite optimisation, as part of the website’s migration from X-Cart to BigCommerce. This project was initialised three months prior to the new site going live, so there would be no post-migration drop in performance.

Key tasks included mapping 301 redirects as well as refining page titles, H1 headings and category content blocks. Agency51 then added PPC, social media targeting and mailers to the strategy when the new site was launched.
